Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s)
GMO’s can be planted in Puerto Rico.
A completed GMO Declaration Form is required for all cotton seed shipped to our Puerto Rico Farm. This applies to non-GMO, non-regulated GMO and regulated GMO material.
Regulated GMO material requires ICIA’s written pre-approval. Please submit a completed GMO Declaration Form along with handling, planting and shipping (to and from) protocols a minimum of 4 weeks prior to the anticipated shipping date.
If you anticipate sending Regulated GMO material to our farm, please remember to contact us early enough for pre-approval and farm location information so that you may apply to the USDA for your movement and planting permits. All permits must be current and specific for our farm location before shipping this material to Puerto Rico.
All rows in a Regulated GMO plot will be assessed a 30% surcharge above row or acreage charges.

All cotton must be fumigated by a USDA approved fumigator before shipping seed cotton to the US. Pricing is set by the fumigator (available in San Juan) and usually requires at least an additional week to accomplish.
