Reliable, timely and accessible results from Illinois Crop Improvement will make your business more manageable and more efficient. Test results are available electronically in real time and can be viewed, searched, printed or downloaded to your system. Integrated sample tracking allows the Greenhouse Program and Seed Laboratory to use the same tracking number for your trait and germination samples. Download your results to add your own tracking and organizational information. Expand the possibilities, not your filing system!

Illinois Crop Improvement is proud to have developed one of the first Roundup Ready® laboratory bioassays for soybeans. Since 1995, the Greenhouse Program has offered testing services that are rapid and reliable. Our rapid lab tests methods are backed by our tried and true greenhouse methods. The greenhouse allows Illinois Crop Improvement to offer more than just "cookie-cutter" bioassays. The Greenhouse Program also offers specialty services such as evaluations for sulfentrazone and metribuzin herbicide sensitivity in soybeans. Soils can be checked for herbicide carryover and the interaction between two organisms (plant diseases) can also be evaluated. Bioassays can be used to evaluate established varieties as well as breeding lines. Ear-to-row screenings allow for the elimination of segregating or unwanted breeding lines prior to being planted in a nursery. If you do not see a service that meets your needs, feel free to contact us about a custom service package.

Molecular based immunoassays were implemented with the introduction of Bt corn. ELISAs (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays) are the workhorse of biotech seed testing. ELISA is not as susceptible to cross contamination as other molecular techniques. On a routine basis, ELISA compliments the bioassays for herbicide traits and hits the nail on the head for insect resistance traits. As new technologies become available Illinois Crop Improvement will continue to evaluate their suitability for routine seed and grain testing. Robust methods serve as the foundation of Illinois Crop Improvement’s testing program.
